Born 14 th August, 1969, Obasanjo attended the University of Lagos Staff School; Kings College Lagos and the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife where he obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1991 he was subsequently called to the Nigerian Bar on the 16th of December 1992. He proceeded to work in the firm of Fani-Kayode and Sowemimo (at that time the only firm in Nigeria to have two Senior Advocates of Nigeria in partnership) as Junior Counsel. He was elevated to the rank of partner in that firm in December 1997 he left in July 1999 to found his own private practice. Fagbemi and Co. He has a long history of association with the firm prior to becoming its joint principal partner having conducted several transactions and handled many cases on its behalf.

 

Mr. Fagbemi is an avid litigator with substantial experience in various areas of commercial work. He has guided an indigenous I.T. start up from a small company through various capital sourcing rounds inclusive of the entry and exit of foreign private equity investors to the point of obtaining approval for listing on the Nigerian stock exchange. He has considerable experience in advising on complex real estate transactions including the acquisition financing off plan sale and subsequent alienation stages of one of the 1st indigenous housing estates. However Obasanjo’s Forte is Litigation His experience in this regard covers the whole gamut of the law from divorce where he has been involved in cross border property and custody issues arising from the break-up of a marriage to Admiralty where he has considerable experience in ship arrest and release to Probate where he obtained the 1 st decision by a Nigerian court that an interlocutory injunction could not issue to restrain duly appointed court administrators from carrying out their duties. Mr. Fagbemi’s experience includes Banking; Oil and Gas as well as corporate commercial law. He supervises the Litigation, Shipping; Corporate Commercial & Energy Law groups of the firm

 

Obasanjo is a Roman Catholic and an active Parishioner of the Catholic Church of the Assumption Falomo where he is currently a member of the parish pastoral council. Prior to that he was Vice Chairman of The Catholic Men Organization (C.M.O) of the Parish. He was admitted into the Catholic Order of the Knights of St. Mulumba (Nigeria) in May 2007. He is a member of Ikoyi Club 1938.
